Travellers update

In defiance of the City Council mandate to withdraw the application for consent to construct a permanent residential site for Travellers at Russell Street in Osmaston, and to look for a location not in the Osmaston area, the Liberal Democrats refused to do so.
Their refusal to recognise the provision of a site as a citywide issue indicates their lack of vision since the Russell Street area is included in the proposals for the redevelopment and transformation of the Osmaston area made possible by the imminent exit of Rolls-Royce from their historic presence at their Nightingale Road factory.
Robin and Baggy and Labour say that the Russell Street location for the Travellers would seriously reduce the opportunities for the once in a century transformation of Osmaston. They are working alongside Action Group Osmaston.
